Topic: Michael Adams Paper
Order Description
Start with the materials posted below.
Pick a group of about 6-10 people whom you know well: your family, a clique from your sorority or fraternity, people in your workplace. These will be your survey
respondents. Pick 12 (or more) values from Michael Adams’s glossary. The values should be chosen such that there are three (or more) values in each of the four
quadrants. For each value, come up with a set of statements comparable to the set of statements for the value Acceptance of Violence in the short handout. You might
ask your survey respondents to what degree they agree with these statements, or you might ask them to rank the four statements by the degree to which they agree—or
whatever. One way or another, you need to come up with a measurement scheme for measuring the degree to which your survey respondents are in sync with this value. Use
the responses to place your survey respondents in the four quadrants.
Your homework should run maximum three pages. Briefly describe who your survey respondents are; don’t reveal identifying information. You should list, in the form of a
table, the 12 values based on which you positioned them. For one of the 12 values, spell out the set of statements and your measurement scheme. Provide a graph of the
four quadrants listing your survey respondents’ positions.
Based on what you write in your two pages a reader who is unfamiliar with the Michael Adams handout should be able to make sense of what you did.
